- WinShell 2.5 Readme File - -------- Overview -------- WinShell is a multi-purpose shell used to easily accomplish many common file management tasks. Through the use of external programs WinShell handles uuencoding and uudecoding, as well as many PGP actions. Internally, WinShell can zip, unzip, show the contents of archives, and even view files contained in archives. For maximum flexibility, WinShell allows the user to define four menu items and the action that should occur when they are selected. Changes from version 2.4: Fixed a bug in the zip viewer. Fixed a bug in the error handler for the user defined menu items. Added 2 popup menus to the selected files list box. Added an unzip prompt to allow a new 'extract to' path. The destination path shown in the zip prompt is no longer truncated. The source & destination directory boxes no longer lose focus after a keypress. Full operation requires the following external files: (not required) Uuencode & Uudecode 95 (v4.0) PGP 2.6.2 or PGP 2.6.2i ---------- Installing ---------- Run the included setup program to install WinShell. All changes made to your system will be logged to SETUP.LOG, which is used by the included uninstaller. ----------------------- Using PGP With WinShell ----------------------- I have learned that WinShell is incompatible with some versions of PGP. This version is fully compatible with PGP 2.6.2 and PGP 2.6.2i. In a future version of WinShell I will try to add support for the European PGP versions. -------------- About WinShell -------------- WinShell is distributed as freeware. It was written in Visual Basic, so it requires vbrun300.dll. I wrote it for the sole purpose of putting all the programs that I use alot together in a more usable manner via a GUI.
